Printing, finishing and business orders
A printing-company website that collects complete quote requests and showcases your finishes
Size, paper, quantity, finish and required date affect a print job’s price. Gloria creates or redesigns your website to help customers define their request, show what your workshop produces and select products that can genuinely be ordered online.
- Receive enquiries containing the specifications needed for an initial quote.
- Show results, finishes and the limits of your services.
- Organise files, print-proof approval and orders around your production process.

Content and functionality
Compare competing printers and searches by printed product
We begin by benchmarking the websites your buyers consult: local printers, product specialists and ordering platforms. We examine their size information, work examples, details requested for a quote and pre-production stages. The comparison is related to your actual services, capacity and desired customers.
Keyword research then starts with products and uses: “short-run brochure printing”, “tri-fold leaflet”, “perfect-bound catalogue” or “exhibition poster printing”. These are phrases to investigate, without invented volumes or rankings. A search about required files reflects a different need from an urgent order or a recurring catalogue project.
The page plan distinguishes what your workshop produces, outsources and does not offer. Local pages correspond to actual delivery coverage, collection or installation services. Research depth, priority products and copywriting are specified in the quote. A major national printer’s catalogue is not automatically the right plan for your business.
Content and functionality
Present size, paper, page count and finish with annotated photographs
A photograph of a closed brochure does not show everything the customer must choose. A product page can combine an overview, a detail of the fold or binding and a caption explaining its use. For a leaflet, specifying the finished size and number of panels helps more than piling up technical terms. For a catalogue, page count and binding type affect production options.
We structure the information with your workshop: available variants, accepted quantities, artwork preparation, options and constraints. Advice about bleed, resolution or colour profiles refers to specifications you approve. We do not apply one universal template to all your products and processes.
Photographs show work authorised for publication or clearly labelled illustrations. A client name, internal document or still-confidential project must not appear in a gallery without checking. If you promote certified paper or an environmental initiative, the copy and evidence must match precisely what you may claim for the offer presented.

The quote confirms the scope before commitment. The client registers and renews the domain; initial connection is included. Choose hosting on your own account or hosting managed by Gloria, at an additional cost. E-commerce platform, applications and payment fees are not included.
These starting prices cover standard configurations. The quote specifies the selected functions, data migrations and integrations. There is no automatic surcharge per page: a synchronised schedule, stock management or a private area may require more work than a set of presentation pages.

Example: prepare a quote for 500 exhibition brochures
Fictional case: a company wants 500 brochures for an exhibition. It knows the event date and is considering A5, but is undecided between 12 and 16 pages. The file is not finished yet. An “Order” button with one fixed price would leave several important decisions unanswered.
The proposed journey asks for the finished size, planned page count, quantity, preferred receipt date and delivery location. The customer states whether the artwork is ready or needs adaptation. The form allows “advice needed” for paper and finish: the buyer can ask for guidance without randomly choosing a specification that commits production.
The printer receives a usable quote request. It then checks the production schedule, shipping and selected options. The website distinguishes enquiry submission, quote acceptance, file checks and approval of the print proof, known as the BAT in French. The exhibition date does not become an automatic delivery promise.
An illustration of the request can show two variants for comparison, with their differing page counts and finishes. It helps prepare the sales discussion. Production prices and lead times remain those approved by the printer for that job, not figures generated to make the demonstration more attractive.

Deliverable excerpt: information to request before pricing a brochure
We can prepare a qualification sheet for each product family. It specifies what the customer provides, where they can ask for your advice and what must be confirmed before production. The table below is an example planning document to adapt to your rules.
On a small screen, scroll the table horizontally.
| Information | At first contact | Before production |
|---|---|---|
| Size and page count | Preferred finished size and planned number of pages | Final dimensions and page count |
| Quantity and paper | Quantity and need for advice on the material | Confirmed product reference and characteristics |
| File | Ready, in progress or to be created | Version checked against your specifications |
| Schedule | Preferred date and delivery location | Accepted production and shipping conditions |
This distinction avoids demanding a complete technical brief from someone still looking for a solution. It also prevents an approximate form submission from being treated as a production order. Internal notifications state the job’s actual status and who is responsible for completing it.
Content and functionality
Receive files and approve print proofs without confusing upload with production approval
Uploading a document should display a straightforward confirmation: file received, next step and how to request a correction. Technical receipt is neither a prepress check nor content approval. The website uses labels matching the responsibilities of your workshop and customer.
If you want online print-proof management, we define the document presented, version number, authorised approver and record of their decision. A file replaced after approval must follow your organisation’s agreed process. Simply overwriting a PDF in a shared folder while retaining “approved” status is not sufficient.
Large files and confidential documents can use an existing transfer tool or private area. Accepted formats, size limits, permissions, file checks and retention are defined. Customer files are excluded from the website’s public media. A download link must be protected according to its use, with withdrawal or expiry where included.
Legal validation of the approval mechanism and order terms remains your responsibility; their implementation in the journey is defined before development.
Content and functionality
Choose products for online sale and retain quotes for variable work
A shop suits products whose combinations, prices and conditions are sufficiently defined. A business card with a few approved options can follow a standard basket journey. A presentation box with custom cutting, several suppliers and substantial artwork preparation may retain a quote request.
A pricing configurator requires formal rules: quantities, tiers, areas, compatible options, minimums, preparation and delivery. Cases where no immediate price should appear must also be defined. Graphic design, file correction and machine setup are not automatically free because the customer orders online.
A standard shop and a web-to-print platform with personalisation, automated file checks or production integration have different scopes. We compare features already available in your tool, useful extensions and custom development. Licences, subscriptions, payment fees and integrations are identified separately.
The launch can begin with an editable catalogue and a well-prepared quote request. Online sales are then added for well-defined items when production rules and expected benefits justify the work.
Content and functionality
Create product pages and file guides that resolve uncertainties
Initial pages should help buyers choose among your profitable product families: brochures, leaflets, posters, labels or exhibition materials, depending on your offer. Each explains uses, variants, limitations and information needed for a quote. A binding page is useful if readers learn when that finish is appropriate and how it changes the project.
Guides can then address difficulties your workshop encounters: counting brochure pages, distinguishing open and finished sizes, preparing a file to your template or checking copy before proof approval. We link each guide to the relevant products. Instructions are dated or reviewed as equipment and requirements change.
For a redesign, we also plan the handling of old product pages and download links. A discontinued product may point to a genuinely appropriate replacement, with an explanation. Copying supplier descriptions or multiplying city pages is not enough to inform customers about your capacity, options and organisation.
Content and functionality
Test an incomplete request, a rejected file and a change after proof approval
Acceptance testing covers situations the workshop encounters. A customer unsure about paper must be able to ask for advice. A quantity outside the offered tiers must receive an explanation. An oversized file or unsupported format must trigger a readable message explaining what to do. We check these journeys on mobile and desktop.
For an order, the team checks selected options, price, fees and confirmation. For a proofing area, it tests two versions of the same job and another customer’s permissions. Notifications must not send a confidential file to the wrong contact. A declined payment or interrupted upload must not display confirmed production.
Handover documentation identifies information the team may change, rules it must maintain and dependencies on third-party tools. The cost of updating a price table or personalisation module is anticipated. Completed scenarios and observed limitations are recorded; the number of pages published does not replace checking the actual journey.
Content and functionality
Track complete quote requests, file corrections and margin per order
Monitoring distinguishes usable enquiries, accepted quotes, repeat orders and time spent completing job details. More forms may be of little value if the workshop must call everyone back for quantity or size. The number of corrections before proof approval and abandonment at a particular option offer other improvement opportunities.
To measure profitability, the printer compares order margin with expenditure over the same period. Paper, preparation, finishing, subcontracting, shipping and correction time can substantially change a sale’s result. Average order value alone does not measure what it earns.
A regular customer’s reorder through the website is not necessarily an additional sale. It may nevertheless reduce re-entry if the rules are reliable. We therefore distinguish new jobs, orders moved online and time actually saved. Developing a configurator is decided using these data and the system’s maintenance costs, without promising automatic gains.
After handover
Domain in your name, hosting and maintenance defined in the quote
You register and renew your domain
The domain name is registered on your account. You pay for and renew it directly; Gloria connects it to the website initially as part of launch. You retain control of the account and renewal reminders. Subsequent one-off assistance can be quoted separately.
You choose who hosts and maintains the website
You can retain compatible hosting or choose hosting managed by Gloria at an additional cost. The quote specifies recurring costs, backups, updates, included interventions and exit terms. Software subscriptions, paid extensions and marketing support are identified separately.
Practical questions
Questions about files, print proofs and printing orders
Can we launch the website without an instant quote calculator?
Yes. A clear catalogue and a form for each product family can prepare pricing. This is appropriate when artwork preparation, finishes or quantities require your input. A calculator is evaluated against verified rules, including cases that must remain individually quoted.
Can technical file checking be automated?
Some checks can be assigned to a specialist tool according to the formats and selected process. We verify what it detects, what remains for the operator and how it reports errors. The connection and licences are specific items; it does not automatically replace editorial checking or the print proof.
Will customers be able to reorder an earlier print job?
An order history or job reference can make reordering easier. The file to reuse, requested changes, quantities and current terms must be checked. An old order must not restart production with an obsolete version or expired price without verification.
Do we need photographs of every catalogue variant?
We prioritise differences customers need to see: folds, binding, texture or finish. A small set of annotated views can be more useful than dozens of similar photographs. Screen renderings are presented as illustrations; exact characteristics are described in the product information.
