Our method, before design
Photographer benchmarking and keywords by speciality and client type
We analyse photographers working on the same types of assignments, local results and portfolios with relevant presentation approaches. The benchmark examines the visible speciality, style, explanation of the process and image usage terms. Your actual services, travel area and order value guide the selection of topics.
“Corporate portrait photographer”, “business event photography [city]” and “e-commerce product photographer” are avenues to investigate, rather than specialities to assign to you. Selected searches must match work you can show and assignments you actually want to accept.
We organise pages by use and intent, with authorised series, a clearly explained role and a form suited to the brief. Demo images remain identified as such. We measure enquiries compatible with your offer, quotes and confirmed assignments, rather than gallery views alone. The quote specifies the number of segments studied and the depth of the benchmark; a standard website package does not cover every photographic niche without limits.
The benefit for your business
Portfolios by speciality, detailed services and session enquiries
- A portfolio organised around the assignments you want to sell.
- Services and stages that are clear before the first conversation.
- Images prepared to keep the website pleasant to use on a phone.

Explain your photography specialities, target clients and travel area
A portfolio can be beautiful and still leave the visitor without answers: do you photograph teams, weddings or both? Do you travel? What happens during a session? We start with the services you actually want to develop and the people who buy them. The website presents this positioning from the homepage, with a coherent selection of images.
A business planning staff portraits needs reliable organisation, defined deliverables and usage rights compatible with its materials. An individual wanting a portrait session wants to understand the atmosphere, preparation and image selection. The visual evidence and practical questions differ. Mixing the two journeys in one wall of photos forces everyone to sort through it themselves.
We therefore give each series a purpose. It illustrates a service and leads to its explanation or enquiry. Your images remain central, but decision-making information is accessible without hovering with a mouse, being forced to watch a video or losing the contact button on mobile.

Public portfolio, private gallery and print sales: three distinct needs
The word gallery covers several tools. Showing the public a dozen selected photos does not require the same features as delivering a complete shoot to a client or selling prints. This distinction avoids paying for a complex platform for a simple brochure website, or promising a client area with a basic album visible to everyone.
On a small screen, scroll the table horizontally.
| Use | Expected content | Point to check |
|---|---|---|
| Public portfolio | Selected series and contextual text | Visual quality and mobile loading |
| Client selection or delivery | Restricted access, favourites and authorised files | Access control and availability period |
| Print sales | Sizes, materials, quantities and basket | Production, shipping and payment |
If you already use a delivery solution that suits you, we can start with clear access from the website. A deeper connection to your customers, invoicing or a print lab is studied separately. The third-party provider's subscriptions and storage limits remain identified. Disabling right-click is not reliable protection for your work: we do not present it as a security measure.

Example: a studio selling portraits to individuals and businesses
Fictional design example. A studio welcomes individuals during the week and travels to businesses to photograph their teams. Its old homepage mixes children, events and professional portraits. The new website can show two distinct entry points without creating two brands or duplicating all the content.
The Personal portraits page presents a typical session: preparation discussion, choice of location, session, selection and delivery of images. It explains what the package includes and what remains to be decided. The Team portraits page specifies the on-site setup, consistency of framing, organisation of staff time slots and delivered formats. Usage arrangements are explained according to the terms defined by the photographer.
The first form asks for the session type and general availability. The second collects the town, approximate number of people, period and planned media. It does not require a named list of employees. The studio can prepare a relevant discussion and check feasibility. The public gallery contains only authorised images; files delivered to the business remain in the private channel intended for them.

Describe each photography service: audience, preparation and process
The homepage summarises your approach and guides visitors towards the main services. Each service combines a selection of images, a description of your approach, the intended audience, preparation and next step. The portfolio can present more extensive series linked to these pages. A published shoot becomes more interesting when it explains a constraint, a shooting decision or an intention, rather than a succession of repetitive captions.
The About page introduces the person the client will work with. An Information and prices page explains your packages, what is included and how to obtain a tailored proposal. Details such as the number of photographs, retouching, travel, delivery and prints should not remain implicit. You can publish guide prices without displaying a single price for very different assignments.
The travel area is real and explained. A shoot at a particular location can justify a useful page if you have permission to publish the images and something to say about it. Repeating the same offer for a list of towns does not replace those elements. We also prepare titles and descriptions that explain your services before visitors open the website.

Adapt photo file sizes and dimensions to different screens
We work from your web exports, while you keep the originals within your own organisation. The website serves dimensions suited to the screen and avoids routinely sending files intended for printing. Important images retain enough definition for visitors to appreciate your work. Series further down the page load progressively, with space reserved to limit layout shifts.
You approve representative examples: a dark portrait, a highly detailed image, skin, sky and gradients. This check detects excessive compression better than simply checking file size. Portrait images are not arbitrarily cropped to fill a grid. Alternative text describes useful images without turning every photo into repeated keywords.
A gallery must also close using the keyboard, display understandable controls and return to the correct position. We avoid animations that prevent visitors from quickly browsing a series. For videos, the poster image, deliberate playback and hosting solution are chosen according to the use. Autoplay with sound adds nothing for someone comparing photographers in a public place.

Photography form: assignment, location, date and contact details
The initial form includes a name, a way to reply, the type of assignment, the location and the date or period if known. For a business, the approximate volume and planned media may be useful. For a wedding, the date and venue first allow availability to be checked. Prospects must be able to say that they have not yet finalised all their choices.
We avoid asking for personal photographs or administrative documents at this first contact. If you need reference images, an optional link or a later exchange is often enough. File upload is a separate feature, with format, size and access limits. Form data is validated on the server, automated submissions are limited and access rights are restricted.
The confirmation explains that your availability still needs to be confirmed. It does not turn a form submission into a firm booking. Enquiries can be routed to the right service, but newsletter subscription remains a separate choice. For a connected calendar, we check travel, preparation and packing-up time: a one-hour session does not necessarily occupy just one hour in your diary.

Redesign the portfolio while retaining links that already bring visitors
We record the current addresses of services, shoots and main galleries. Old series that remain useful can keep their URL. When a page changes address, a permanent redirect leads to equivalent content, with a check of the final destination. Replacing every shoot with the homepage would remove context for people discovering it through an existing link.
The editorial review is also an opportunity to remove images whose publication is no longer authorised and check the required credits. Private albums do not become public during migration. If a client area changes provider, access, shared links and file availability are handled within an explicit scope. Redesigning the website does not constitute a backup of your photographic archives.
We check the links shared in your social profiles, signatures, directories and QR codes. The new structure links services to relevant series. Technical pages with no public interest are not presented as content to be indexed. A post-launch check identifies missing images and old URLs still in use.

Test session enquiries, corporate quotes and access to the private gallery
Validation starts with three journeys: an individual looking for your style and the stages of a session; a business looking for a proposal for its team; and an existing client finding their delivery access. Each should be able to reach their destination on a phone without browsing every portfolio image.
We then check a sample of galleries with you: framing, colours, sharpness, order and captions. Technical checks cover loading, links, forms, protections and planned redirects. If a private area is included, an unauthorised visitor must not be able to view restricted files simply by knowing their address. The limits of the chosen solution are explained.
With an editable package, you receive a method for adding a series without degrading the website: selection, export, name, description and connection to the service. Tracking can distinguish service views, enquiries received and assignments won, depending on your tools. We do not confuse the number of photos viewed with the number of clients acquired; subsequent adjustments are based on real enquiries and your production capacity.
Domain, hosting & maintenance
Who manages the website after handover?
You register and renew the domain name
You register, pay for and renew your domain name directly. Gloria connects it to the website initially as part of launch. The registrar account and renewal reminders remain under your control. Subsequent one-off assistance can be quoted separately.
Hosting and maintenance: options and prices to specify
You can retain compatible hosting or choose hosting managed by Gloria at an additional cost. The quote specifies recurring costs, backups, updates, included interventions and exit terms. Subscriptions to booking tools, platforms or paid extensions are identified before commitment.
Practical questions
Questions about functionality and website creation
Can I keep my photo delivery tool?
Yes. It can remain separate from the public portfolio, with clear access from your website. We check what the tool allows before promising an integration. Album migration, access rights and subscriptions are not implicit in a simple redesign.
How many photos should I publish?
Enough to demonstrate consistency across your services, without making every visitor browse a full album. We select representative series with you. An image is chosen for what it helps people understand, rather than to reach an advertised quantity.
Can we sell prints later?
Yes, if the development is planned. Sizes, materials, stock or production on demand, shipping and payments will need to be defined. This activity requires an e-commerce scope separate from the portfolio and can use your print lab or a specialist service.
